“We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.” - Galileo Galilei.

Are you getting what you want from all the areas of your life?

Are you living the life you had hoped for?

Do you want more fulfillment and intimacy in your life?

You probably wouldn’t embark on some outdoor adventure sport alone. For rock climbing or skydiving you would go with a guide or companion. The guide enables you to have the accomplishment of the adventure in a safe and satisfying way. He shows you how to put on the climbing harness. He reminds you why a helmet is important and helps you find one that fits.

For skydivers, a guide makes sure that you’re able to get into the correct free fall position without even having to think about it. He also makes sure you learn how and when to open your parachute — and how to use your backup parachute if needed.

An adventure guide also helps you enjoy your achievement.

The same can be true for the more serious adventures of your life – relationships, spirituality, sex and business. If you go it alone, the challenges will seem bigger, and you’ll miss some of the danger warning signs. Ultimately, you won’t get as far.

Like an adventure guide, a life coach provides support, wisdom and practical help along the way.

It often helps to have someone guide you. Someone to hold the space for you to look inside and fully focus on yourself.

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is a meaningful professional relationship that helps you live in a way that honors all who you are. Your hopes and dreams, your values and the places you get stuck are all welcome. Your body, mind, spirit and sexuality are all important parts of who you are. Each offers valuable insight into helping you move forward in getting the things you most want from life

Ultimately, it’s about helping you find your own answers, those winning moves that best fit your personality and your life.

Who it helps

As your coach I believe you are already creative, resourceful and whole. It’s my job to support you in bringing the changes and growth you most want into your life.

Life coaching powerfully supports anyone who wants

  • To follow a dream
  • To bring more intimacy into your life
  • To take better care of yourself
  • To get unstuck and feel more alive.
  • To live each day with purpose, passion and no regrets
  • Meaningful support during major life transitions

“Mark, you’re like the swiss army knife of coaches. You helped me with a wide range of topics—from motivation of work tasks and commitments, to very personal sexual stuff. You also put me onto a great resource that has been hugely beneficial for me to keep my day-to-day focus.”

–Bill, marketing professional, Boston MA

Benefits: What you get

Coaching works because it brings out your best. A coach believes you are creative and resourceful and is trained to bring out the best in you.

Rather than instruct, advice or solve problems for you, a good coach asks questions, listens and empowers.

Here’s some of what you will get from life coaching with me

  • perspective about where you are
  • listening – a safe place for you to be heard
  • clarity about what’s most important to you
  • strategies to get to where you want to go
  • options for the places you feel stuck
  • caring and structures to support you
  • feedback and challenge to help you move forward

Coaching Philosophy

We start with your dreams. We ground it in the practical realities. We create a winnable game plan.

As a professional coach, l support you by providing listening, feedback, insights from an outside neutral perspective. I believe you are already creative, resourceful and whole. It’s my job to support you in bringing the changes and growth you most want into your life.

Coaching has some similarities to the work done by spiritual directors, consultants and counselors in that it’s a confidential relationship where you rely on my intuitive listening, and the depth of my skills, training and experience.

Unlike psychotherapy, which looks at the past and assumes the need to fix problems,, coaching sees clients as creative, capable and resourceful people who seek support in making positive changes and growing even healthier. Unlike spiritual direction and consulting, life coaching takes an integrated view that looks at all of your life, and doesn’t give answers but rather helps you find your own path toward greater fulfillment.

How it works

A coaching relationship is probably different than anything you’ve ever experienced before.

You’ve had managers who tell you what to do and get frustrated if you don’t succeed. You’ve probably had a therapist listen to you and not offer any feedback. You may have worked with a consultant who gave you a plan of action and soon disappeared.

Rather than instruct, advice or solve problems for you, a good coach asks questions, listens and empowers.

Life coaching takes place privately (usually by phone) in a program designed to achieve the goals that matter the most to you.

You might have had some negative experiences before with “coaching” in a business or other setting. Often when this happens it’s because the coach has an agenda for you whether he is aware of it or not.

As your coach the only agenda I have is to help you discover and achieve whatever it is that you want.

Coaching by phone is surprisingly effective. There are benefits to doing this from within your own environment, as it allows change to occur more naturally and often more easily. Also, It saves you the time and expense of travelling to meet in person.

Change that is lasting and meaningful occurs when you make a commitment to your own growth over time, and when you get support from others along the way.

Life coaching is traditionally organized around meeting by phone 2 to 4 times per month for 45 minutes, usually for an initial period of 3 to 5 months.

I’ve noticed that many of my clients find it helpful to have more flexibility with scheduling sessions (such as one at a time or at a different frequency).   I’m happy to work out a flexible approach that works for you.  The most powerful results will come from a regular schedule of sessions.

Sessions and Fees

While you will get meaningful insights and forward movement from a single session, or a session now and then,  it’s important to understand that the powerful, lasting  change and transformation available through coaching occurs especially when you make a commitment to receive support in the context of a relationship over time to grow in a specific area of your life.

Most clients find that a commitment of 6 to 10 sessions over a period of 4 months makes a big difference in what’s possible for their growth.

Sessions are conducted by phone and last 45 minutes, sometimes a few minutes longer.   The fee also  includes the option to record the call (with an mp3 file sent to you),  and email support for a week after (or between regular sessions) to help you integrate the learning and discuss any new questions that come up.

The fee for a single session is $120 paid before the session by Paypal.

For clients who commit to a series of at least 8 coaching sessions over a period of 4 months the fee is $100 per session, prepaid monthly.

If you want different results than you are currently getting from your life, you’ll have to do something to make change happen. It’s up to you to decide what that will be.

If the cost seems truly impossible, for you please see the statement about financial challenges.
