Hi, I’m Mark Reinert and I have a question for you.
When were you last given a good listening to?
You know, one of those times you felt taller afterwards.
This is the basis of my work.
For over 20 years I’ve been hearing from men how hard It can be to find your way in a world that says you are defective if you are a man who enjoys meaningful, intimate connection with other men.
I love working with men helping them find their own truth. I support them in holding this truth in the face of challenge and even when they are alone in their belief.
Even if you’ve gotten comfortable about who you are, (whether that means gay, bisexual or some other label), you’ve probably noticed how much pressure there is to separate intimacy and spirituality from sexuality.
Your animal nature and spiritual nature were never meant to be pulled apart like that.
I can help you reconnect.
I teach from my own experience and the paths I have walked. I love inspiring men to heal from fear and shame and integrate all the unique, primal, receptive, scared, sexy, kinky, generous, and animal aspects of themselves into being in the world in a way that is authentic, dynamic and so very alive.
The core principles of my work first emerged from paying attention to the things that brought radical change to my own life:
- Listening, through dialog and safe touch, for empowerment
- Experiencing with the body for clarity and lasting change
- Fluent integration of the erotic and the mundane for freedom from fear and shame.
So, why should you let me listen to you?
To answer that question I suggest you take a few moments and listen to (read) my story, below.
Then pause and check in with what you feel. What response do you feel in your heart and in your body?
How did I get here?
I’ve hiked along some twisting, challenging and exciting paths:
- I grew up in the Amazon rainforest climbing trees and swimming with the wildlife. Literally!
- Had eye surgery at age 12 and again at age 15.
- Gave my heart to Jesus at age 4, listened to “Jesus music” as a teenager and got involved in church work as a young adult,
- Went to a private liberal arts college and graduated summa cum laude.
- Left the evangelical church and opened my heart much wider. It had become clear doing so was the only ethical response. (In other words, it was what Jesus would do.)
As early as those college days men began asking me for help with getting what they wanted from life including about sex and intimacy. Back then no one called it coaching.- Worked toward graduate degrees in counseling and cross-cultural communication. Burned my nose on the grindstone.
- Worked with kids in Seoul, South Korea and the Bronx, New York.
- Jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. For the fun of it. (Since I’m not Superman, I used a parachute.)
- Developed life coaching skills helping multi-cultural teams working in fascinating places like the slums of New Delhi, India, Islamic neighborhoods in London, England, among the poor in Mexico and in Germany’s Black Forest.
- Got converted again in rural, northern Holland. Now I drink coffee every day.
- Later spent a dozen years in corporate America experiencing the best, the bad and the ugly.
- Led more groups and workshops than I can remember, on topics as diverse as business, spirituality, and sexuality.
- Experienced earthquakes, flash floods and flight delays.
- Sat with friends who were suicidal and held the hands of the dying.
- Became fascinated with various forms of adventurous sexual expression, such as bondage and power exchange. Spent years exploring to my heart’s content. Guided many individuals and groups in similar healthy explorations.
- Lived the joys and pains of a variety of relationship configurations including long-distance and ethical non-monogamy.
- Experienced trauma in a variety of ways: living among terrorists, being mugged with a knife, receiving a broken nose on my front porch, surviving a car accident, and more.
- Sharpened my coaching skills with Coaches Training Institute and Coachville.
- Studied and explored tantra, erotic massage, Reiki and other sexual and spiritual practices with the Body Electric School, New School of Erotic Touch, Tantra Heart Kriya Yoga and other leading teachers of spirituality and erotic education.
- Embarked on a study of various mind-body and healing practices including inner relationship focusing, sexological bodywork and authentic movement.
- Slept naked in a treehouse and ate ice cream on a frozen, winter beach. For the fun of it.
- Still learning and experimenting. Won’t stop. Not ever.
